When I started my career I my very first job was working  for a very large US bank.  On top of that I was put into a position where I got to work along side the executive level management of the company.  It was a job I will never forget, I was able to watch these ultra successful bankers up close and personal.  Were taking about people who in my eyes were doing all the right things, they make the right decisions and leveraged their time to get ahead.  I really didn’t appreciate the concept of time before this job, to me live was just taking it day by day sort of flowing with what came your way.  And it showed, prior to this job I was not where I wanted to be career wise, I was just a ship sailing off course.

I chuckle now when I think about this one day, I just got done assisting a new administrative assistant get settled in when I headed for the bathroom.  As I settled in to take care of business, the CIO of the company walked in and parked it right next to me.  Since I had worked with him before and he liked my work he quickly asked me how I was doing and I had replied with the typical response I’m doing good.  As we were standing by the sink I had asked him how one of his latest tech toys I had setup for him was working out.  It was this special voice recorder that he would use to capture all sorts of notes and dictate into.  Now while most of the other bankers were using the old dictation recorders, this tech savy banker was testing out the new technology.  Now why wouldn’t he was the CIO of the company, and I had helped him choose this particular model.  What was so special about this voice recorder was it could be connected up directly to his PC.  At this time the traditional dictation recorders were simply played back and the secretary would then transcribe the sound into text for the executive to read.  However this neat little device would get hooked up to a PC, and a nice piece of software would do the work the secretary was doing in a matter of minutes vs 30-40 minutes.

I was thinking about that voice recorder I had worked with almost 10 years ago when I had found this nifty little service.  The company is called Jott.com, and what they allow you to do would sure make that executive proud.  You can simply use your cell phone, dial an toll free number, tell the service where you would like the text to go and leave your message.  It feels like your just calling someone and leaving a voice mail, its that easy to use.  What I like about this service is that once you leave your message a sophisticated computer transcribe your voice to text and will post it practical anywhere. When you head over to my blog the post I created with Jott was all done from the comfort of my sofa using this amazing service.  You can also set appointments to your google calendar, remind yourself of groceries you need to buy and even send out emails.  If your looking for a way to leverage your time better then you have to check out this service.  I know the main reason I joined was when I found out you can post to wordpress blogs I jumped at the chance to test it out.  In the last few weeks of using Jott I am not giving my little time saver back.

If you need to submit samples for DNA Paternity Testing you need to ensure that the company you are using is reliable, accredited and has a reputation within the industry for producing high quality results and where necessary advice on interpretation.

A paternity analysis usually involves taking DNA samples from the child, mother and the purported father. These samples are then analysed and DNA profiles produced from each of the 3 donors. The DNA Paternity results are a series of bands, which represent the different regions of DNA which are analysed within the testing protocol. Given that DNA is inherited, with half coming from the father and half from the mother, any two bands within the childs profile will follow ths pattern of inheritance. We can use this information to compare the childs profile to the mother and purported father to see if we have a ‘match’.

If a purported father is not the true biological father of the child, this will be very clearly evident from the profile obtained. This exclusion is 100% and there can be no doubt in the result as long as good laboratory practice has been followed, and the authenticity of the source of samples is guaranteed. If on the other hand half the components in a childs profile match the components present in the fathers samples, a statistic needs to be calculated in order to assess the value of the match. Depending on the company you’ve used and the DNA probes that have been applied to the samples, you’ll get a result that has a certainty level that ranges from 99% to 99.99%.

If you wish to use the DNA test results in court, you need to ensure the paternity dna test kits you use are accepted by the relevant authorities, and that you can demonstrate the continuity of samples from when they were taken to arrival at the testing facility. This is a critical requirement and can make the difference between a result being admissable or not.

Paternity testing is a complex area, and you need to ensure you are well informed before you submit you samples to a company, where the outcome could genuinely be life changing. Click on any of the links in this article for more information.

The now common use of computer equipment in Schools has reached an all time high, with more and more classrooms being equipped with more and more computer equipment, the use of traditonal text books for written work is on a sharp decline, many students are now expected to have their own Laptops with them in lessons.

these days, much of the so called old fashion written work are replaced with the student typing work directly into their laptops. This can have many advantages, but where an advantage appears, a negative situation will be present. Can you imagine a collage with, let’s say 2000 students and just for an example, lets say each student|pupel|scholar} has a laptop or notebook valued at £500. So now we have 2000 young students looking after over £1m worth of laptop and Notebook apparatus!

Now that is starting to sound very expensive for the parents! Especially when you stop and think that every student will be carrying the laptop both to and from School. Just imagine the volumes of loss, theft and Accidental Damage that is going to take place. This could start to get very expensive for the parents of the forgetful and careless children of the class.

You can start to imagine some of the storys children will come up with for the reason they have not brought their laptops into School, or indeed, returned home with at the end of the day!

Imagine how children could fail to look after their Notebooks! Swinging the laptop bag around in the air before throwing it 5 metres at their best friend, dropping it down a flight of stairs in the hope it will fail so they have the perfect excuse not to had the home work in on time - I would love to see some of the reasons for claiming accidental damage on peoples Laptop Insurance claim forms!

Now if we move onto loss, can you imagine, over the space of a year how many students loose their Notebooks, left on the train or School bus because their minds were focused on the last text message or new ipod download.

Yet another vital component about loss is not to get it confused with Theft, as they are two totally different factors, especially when it comes down to Laptop Insurance Cover and illegal insurance fraud!

Many people automatically assume that because they have purchased Laptop Insurance Cover they will be covered for loss, only to find when making a claim that loss was not included in the policy. Whilst some people find this out too late, others are aware they are not covered for loss, so they report the laptop as stolen so they can claim on their Laptop Insurance under the theft cover, this practise can then become illegal Insurance fraud, so its always good practice to check the terms and conditions of any insurance policy to make sure you will be covered for the loss of your laptop computer to protect yourself from this situation.

It would be the same rule with Laptop Insurance as well as the same sort of cover you get on say an iPhone Insurance policy, so it really is important as advised above to read the terms and conditions of any prospective insurance policy before you purchase, so to avoid any potential law breaking situation with your insurance company or indeed the Police!
